Oh what a beautiful Friday morning it is! I cannot believe we are at the end of may already, time is going by super fast. Now that we’re finally into summer weather, it’s time to enjoy the outdoors and get working on that tan. For all of you who do not have a cottage to escape to this weekend, check out some of the events happening in downtown Toronto this weekend. They are a perfect way to get out, get active and explore the city!

Toronto Island House & History Tour


Enjoy a delightful summer day on the Island in support of a great cause.  Toronto Island Grannies in Spirit will host their third tour of distinctive private homes and common buildings, on June 1, 2014. You’ll have the opportunity to meet Island residents, hear and “see” stories from the community’s history, and enjoy an Island-themed art show by Island artists. Go early and enjoy lunch at the Island Cafe, The Rectory Cafe, or Queen City Yacht Club. All proceeds will go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
Time:        12 to 5 pm (Houses open 1 to 4 pm)
Tickets:    $45 adults;
                  $39 adults (if purchasing 4 or more);
                  $15 children under 13



CraveTO celebrates Toronto’s dining movement by highlighting the best street food and craft beer the city has to offer. Local DJs will be providing the music for the night. The event takes place in a large indoor space with green space, a farmer’s market and a volleyball court.

Ride, Set, Die


Ready, Set, Die is a gory five-kilometre run in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Humans must complete the traditional course and survive thirteen obstacles riddled with two types of zombies: the staggering, hobbling shufflers and the predatory sprinters. Runners are provided with balloons or flags that each represent a life. At the end of the run, both living and undead are invited to Zombie Fest for dancing, a scavenger hunt, zombie prosthesis and zombie apocalypse survival tips.
